AME Systems’ staff celebrate their association with Kenworth.

AME Systems has been formally recognised  for its contribution to one of the world’s  most iconic motoring brands.

Kenworth, the world’s best known name in trucks, presented AME Systems an award for most improved supplier of the year and for third place in its category C supplier of the year awards.

As a category C supplier, AME Systems builds electrical harnesses and wiring looms for Kenworth Trucks from Kenworth drawings.

AME general manager Christian Carthew said the awards were recognition of the strong relationship the company has had with Kenworth.

“We’ve been with Kenworth for 30 years,” said Mr Carthew.

“We’ve always been spot- on with delivery and quality.

“This award is really for the whole team here at AME Systems.”

Mr Carthew said AME Systems employs over 260 people and up to 55per cent of its workload is for Kenworth.

“Every Kenworth you see driving around Australia has had its wiring built by Ararat people,” Mr Carthew said.

AME Systems’ relationship with Kenworth is likely to continue benefiting the Ararat region with Kenworth planning to almost double its production by 2020.

“We’re expecting Kenworth to grow significantly,” said Mr Carthew.

While Kenworth is a huge part of the day to day workload at AME Systems, the company is busy with many other projects.

“We’re adding new clients all the time,” said Mr Carthew.

“We currently have about 90 customers Australia wide, and into New Zealand .”

Mr Carthew added that interest had been coming from China and the possibilities of expanding business into Asia are growing all the time.

The recognition from the Kenworth supplier of the year awards is an indication AME Systems is still leading the way for manufacturers in the region.

The company has modified its structure over the past few months which has seen several positive changes.

AME Systems has appointed a new human resources manager, Mike Ford, and has also recruited new finance manager Graeme Beams.

Mr Carthew said the company had also appointed Martin Horner as AME’s new computer programmer and is now on the lookout for a new production manager.
