Ararat company director Peter Carthew has been made a member of the Order of Australia on the 2005 Queen’s Birthday honors  list.

Founder and director of award-winning company AME Systems, Mr Carthew received his award for service to the Ararat community through involvement with civic and charitable organisations, regional development initiatives and local government.

Mr Carthew has been a heavy contributor to Ararat and it’s community. His list of achievements include president, Ararat Community Support Group, president, Ararat Legacy, city chairman and area captain, Salvation Red Shield Appeal, foundation member and chair, Ararat Regional Development Board, chief commissioner Ararat Rural City Council and coordinator of Ararat Family Home Project.

Ararat Rural City CEO Bill Braithwaite said Mr Carthew had been recognised for outstanding community service to Ararat over many years.

“He is a very worthy recipient and has a long list of community achievements,” Mr Braithwaite said.

Mr Carthew said he was delighted to be recognised.

“It’s a great reflection on the community and its moral support for myself and my family,” Mr Carthew said.

“You don’t do these things to be recognised but it’s nice when it happens.”
