HALL OF F-AME

Ararat Manufacturer AME Systems was inducted to the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame last week. Director Peter Carthew and business development manager Christian Carthew are celebrating the induction, which recognises them as leaders in their field.

LEADING THE WAY

Ararat Manufacturer AME Systems has added another jewel to its crown after winning acceptance into the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

AME Systems director Peter Carthew accepted his company’s award from Manufacturing and Export minister Tim Holding.

Speaking at the Hall of Fame’s gala dinner, Mr. Holding said the Hall of Fame was going from strength to strength.

Victoria ’s manufacturers play a vital role, creating employment, driving exports and setting the pace with new technology and innovation,” he said.

“Hall inductees and award winners inspire others in the sector to fresh heights and with the new Young Manufacturer of the Year award we are placing a strong focus on the future.”

AME Systems is a major Australian- owned supplier of electrical harnesses and associated equipment to many industries at a first and second tier level.

The 32-year-old company opened in Ararat in 1977 after previously operating in Melbourne under a different name. It became AME Systems 12 years ago and now employs 250 staff.

AME business development manager Christian Carthew said acceptance into the Hall of Fame was a wonderful recognition for the company’s workers.

“We’ve experienced a good deal of growth in the last few years and the team has done a magnificent job keeping it all together while also improving in key areas,” Mr. Carthew said.

The Hall of Fame was established in June 2000 to celebrate manufacturing excellence in Victoria and to showcase locally-based manufacturers whose innovation and sophisticated solutions to global manufacturing issues have made them world leaders.
